Lesson Plans Week of March 9th

Welcome back from a wonderfully sunny weekend!! I hope everyone has had a chance to adjust to daylight savings.  My plans for the week is as follows:

Math- We are continuing work in Topic 9 Adding and Subtracting Fractions.  Students are learning to add and subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators.  Remember, you cannot add or subtract fractions before the denominators are the same.  Homework and quizzes as follows:

Monday - Practice & Reteaching 9.7
Tuesday - P & R 9.8
Wednesday - Adding/Subtracting Fractions
Thursday - Fraction quiz (simplest form, renaming/equivalent fractions, and LCM).  There may also be some adding and subtracting of fractions - it depends on how well the students grasp the concept.

We will be testing some time next week on Topic 9.  If any student wants to get a head start on the extra credit for the test next week, they are welcome to start Reteaching pg 244-245 Sets A-G.  Also, students are receiving their Topic 8 tests this week.  Test analysis will be due on Thursday, March 12th.

Science - In science, we are finishing up the Unit 5 - Ecosystems Unit.  Today, we read Lesson 3 and completed a mini lab on how organisms can survive after a change to an ecosystem.  My plans are as follows:
Tuesday - virtual drought lab
Wednesday - Finish reading & Wholey notes for Lesson 3.
Thursday - Finish wholey notes and Unit review.

Again, we will be testing Unit 5 sometime the following week.  No homework is assigned unless your child is unable to complete during class.

If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact me.  Have a great week!
